Senate approves cable competition bill

Jefferson City- After weeks of lengthy debate, the state Senate on Tuesday approved legislation aimed at giving consumers more options for cable service.

The bill would set guidelines for the state to issue franchise agreements so cable firms wouldn’t have to petition individual municipalities to provide service.
