As traditional newspapers and magazines fall by the wayside, the trend is to move operations to online publishing. This is not surprising, as web-based consumption of news is skyrocketing, especially via mobile devices.
But as the industry shifts, publishers remain perplexed by how to turn a profit online. The core problem for publishers is that there is no proven, successful model for charging consumers for news-related content online.
