Without a doubt, the Internet has been one of the top technological advancements in history, transforming the way that people communicate, learn, work, and even consume.
However, the transformative power of the Internet also comes with a responsibility to ensure that the technology is used in a safe and effective manner.
We have all heard the stories of online child predators, identity thieves, and cyberbullies. Indeed, many states in the U.S. have already passed, or are currently considering, laws dealing with these types of problems. But as end-users of the Internet, we all must remain vigilant and educated regarding online safety issues for both ourselves and our families.
As an advocacy organization, Mid-American Communications Alliance believes that it is our responsibility to help educate consumers, policy-makers, and other stakeholders on these important issues.
