Overview

Wireless technology has come a long way over the last 20 years. At the onset of the wireless age, consumers had to lug around large “bag phones” in order to make a wireless telephone call. Today, wireless devices are pocket-sized and allow users to not only make phone calls, but also send text, picture, and multimedia messages; transmit live video; and even browse the internet and download large data files at ever-increasing broadband speeds.

The wireless industry is truly making communications available anytime and anywhere. The implications and benefits to consumers that wireless technology provides are obvious. The Mid-American Communications Alliance believes that continued innovation in the wireless industry will bring new and exciting products to market that offer real benefits to consumers. As the industry evolves, MCA will monitor the industry to maximize the value for consumers.

A Better Life With Wireless Forum – Edmond, OK

On May 29, 2009, Mid-American Communications Alliance in conjuction with the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce and Oklahoma Christian University sponsored “A Better Life with Wireless – The Future is Today.”

The forum brought together a panel of national and local wireless techology experts, moderated by State Representative Mike Thompson, Chairman of the Oklahoma House of Representatives Energy and Utility Regulation Committee, to educate business leaders, policymakers, and consumers on the rapid growth of our wireless world, how the technology is providing incredible benefits in a multitude of industries and across numerous platforms, and why light regulation best promotes innovation and investment in the wireless space.
